Semi-perminant Exhibit by
Louisa Donelson
Two large-scale oil paintings by Louisa Donelson, flanking the stage of the New Dawn Arts Center Performance Hall. The artworks illustrate the power, serenity, and mystery of water in landscape in a poetic and abstracted form. The paintings explore the intersection of where the water and the earth meet, and honor Ashburnham’s unique positioning as host of headwaters of major watersheds.
Louisa Sagendorph Donelson (b. 1983, Massachusetts) is a Portland, Maine-based artist known for her evocative oil paintings. Her work draws inspiration from the order and chaos of the natural world, dreamlike landscapes, and the climate crisis. Her paintings are moments of the natural world dematerializing + regenerating, serving as a reminder of the power and danger of human impact on the environment. Louisa grew up swimming, boating, drinking, painting and frolicking in Ashburnham’s many bodies of water.
